Kay well It’s been awhile since I posted something, so in order to keep my blog from become dead, in only its second month of life, here I am.

Some random snippets.

Lets see.. the Mavericks are number one and that makes me happy.

My dear friend Angel( the beautiful girl standing to the right of me, yes I know I look kind of scary but Angel looks good so just focus on her:) is having serious eye problems, so please keep her in your prayers.
” Supporting someone in prayer and the power of the keys, is the greatest act of love and sacrifice and will deliver to them miracles that will lighten there load, and give them the strength to fight on”.

The XD is about to launch. Yay!

Zero fixed my header.

I took a kickboxing class on Tuesday, and have been in pain ever since.

I’ve recently discovered that there are other black people in the Family besides dear Puddle of Mud, and myself, which I admit has been an inspiring revelation…ok well technically I knew there were more out there I just hadn’t really met them…anyway moving on.

Here are some links to some ab/core exercises I’ve been trying lately.

waist slimming

strengthen your core

They seem to be working pretty well and I do feel like my waist/ab area area is getting stronger and hopefully flatter(always a score). I’m one of these people that can do hundreds of crunches and not feel a thing so I’m always on the lookout for new ab exercises. If any of you have any favorites please feel free to share.

Have a great weekend. I’m off to Mexico…….

I like your site - gives me good ideas for exercize and though I don’t run to eat (I can’t run in our area of Mexico City at the moment anyways, unless I want to risk kidnapping) I exercize ’cause I’m just plain addicted to it and have to burn energy or I’m hyper by the end of the day. :D

I’m really into trying to lose what I think are love-handles, got any tricks/ideas for that? I know we’re bound to have some, but I’m always interested in hearing what others do. - Care to share?

Wow. Cool. Another half black person.

Cons, we might need 3 hands to count now.

    Nice.

    Hey Cel,
I like your site too it’s always interesting. And I know what you mean about being addicted to exercise, I’m sure you loved that new GN just as much as did :)
In answer to your question about what I do for love handles…hee…well I’ve found that mixing up my ab work and doing core work(I.E Pilates)has helped alot I also do lower back exercises which I think have helped a bit. One of My favorite ab exercises is the Corkscrew
Description: This exercise targets both the lower abs and the obliques. Lie on your back, with your legs raised directly over your hips. Your knees should be slightly bent. Place your hands at your sides with the palms down. Use your lower abs to raise your hips off the floor and toward your rib cage, elevating your feet straight up. Simultaneously twist your hips to the right. Hold, then return to the starting position. Repeat, twisting to the left. Do 10 repetitions to each side.(courtesy of menshealthmag.com)

I don’t have alot of new and different things I do I basically just do a little bit of everything. I really like exercise balls as well, makes a big difference to me as oposed to doing normal crunches on the floor.
I have noticed that when I do Tae bo faithfully I notice a big difference in my waist and abs, I think its all the standing side crunches, and leg lifts he does .

Anyway hope some of that helps I’m sure none of it is super new and different, but If I find some miracle ab routine that works wonders I will definitely share it.

To BFS: very cool to meet you. I’m actually half black as well, so you for sure count :)

Oh yes, I VERY much liked the new GN! - And its cool to see people into it too now, rather than almost feeling the verge of guilt that I was so into it and addicted. (Though usually people were just admiring that I was so faithful.)

Niki was telling me your guys’ Home is like totally into healthy eating/exercize, etc. - Sounds like a good atmosphere!

As to the crunch..hmmmm…sounds interesting, and even painful, but pain is good, right? :P I’ll try it out. I do a TaeBo workout basically every day - unless I’m feeling bored and weak/lazy so find something else to do - like run (though that’s not on lazy days and only if I’m in a safe place) or something with weights - however I stay away from weights as I somehow or another gain muscle too fast (IMO) and being a bigger girl I feel scary. HA! But yes, TaeBo gives you a good waist and abs. - I noticed that, its cool. For some reason though, I have a good waist and abs, its just the love handles. Oh well!

They say running is good for your ass - which is the other part of my body I’m trying to shape up more :P - Some day, some day!

Running is good on so many levels…
As for the waistline and core I suggest more running as that reduces overall fat levels.
Ab workouts that I’ve found that work fairly well are weighted crunches (either on your back or with a weight machine), weighted side bends (for the obliques), gorilla curls (hanging on a pull up bar and balling your body up and curling it to where your knees are at your chin and your feet are touching your hands then repeat), flutter kicks (Navy SEAL thing), and the plank (push up position except instead of your hands, your elbows and forearms are on the ground. hold for 2 min. variations exist for the obliques too.)

All very good exercises, Phil, thanks. Only thing is when you’re a girl, and a girl who has a tendency to gain muscle VERY easy, the problem with some of those exercises’s is that they have a tendency to add bulk to not just the front of your abs but also your sides, making you apear wider, and god forbid overall bigger. It’s tough being a girl :)

  8. Cel on April 1st, 2007 4:04 pm

TX Phil! They sound cool and all, but they also sound like muscle builders. To give you an idea of why I’m worried about muscle take a look at these links. - And I didn’t even try, so…well, I’m a bit scared to gain more muscle.

Heh, I understand completely I have to be very careful as well about building to much muscle. However I think you look very nice,Cel, give me muscle tone over flab any day :)

I am totally with Cel on the whole butt thing…just without the rest of me being fit. What, in your opinion, are some good arse workouts?

  11. Token Black Girl on April 2nd, 2007 8:17 pm

I personally really dig deadlifts, pelvic lifts, lunges and squats for shaping up my derriere. In my case I have to worry about gaining bulk on my legs which forces me to only do a few reps with light weights, but since you don’t have that problem….heh the sky is the limit.
