Jamie King Rock Your Body

Since moving, my running has taken a bit of a hit, since there aren’t a ton of options as far as where to run. When I used to go to the gym, I did the Nike Rockstar Dance workouts choreographed by Jamie King, and they were very fun, and quite challenging so when I saw that he had is own workout video, “Rock Your Body“, I had to try it.
It’s a dance workout with pretty fun moves. I worked up quite a sweat at times, and the choreography is pretty fun and interesting. There is a warmup, segment one, segment two, dress rehearsal(where you put both segments together) strength training(dance inspired toning moves. One thing, though ,is that he doesn’t actually use weights on this part. I’ve found that by holding 2 or 3 pound weights it’s a much better workout.) The last segment is the performance where you do the whole routine 4 times pretty fast. It’s fun because the setting is a club atmosphere, the dancers are dressed pretty snazzy, and there is a DJ.
All and all it’s a fun workout to throw in on those alternate days for a little variety in your workout life, especially if you really enjoy dancing(like I do.) TTFN

Hey, when you used to go to the gym did you do weight lifting too? I’m trying to find some one who knows some good sets, what types, etc. (all that mumbo jumbo) Im so bored of doing 8 sets of 3 with whatever I find. What did you do?
Hey Joan, I did used to do weight lifting when I went to the gym. I tend to bulk up quite a bit especially on my lower body, so I’d always keep whatever weightlifting I did light weights with lots of reps. For instance, I’d do the outer thigh machine with light weights but say 4 sets of twenty. I found I got more toned and not so bulky to to speak. As far as what types of stuff I did maybe chat with me sometime and I’d be happy to share that with you…don’t want this to get too long.
Basically I’d do one day of strictly cardio. kickboxing, dancing, or running, for an hour to an hour and a half. The next day would be say 30 minutes of cardio and an hour of toning, which was either weightlifting, yoga, pilates, weightlifting class, etc. Not sure if its really the best but it worked for me and even now that I don’t go to the gym I try to keep that same schedule.
If I only had a short amount of time I’d try to just focus on either the upper or lower body instead of trying to do both, cause I found I just couldn’t focus enough on either one which led to a funky workout.
LU! Chat me sometime
oooh hey, that’s alot of info for me. I do like, the bare minimum, 20 minutes of running, and the whole 3 sets of 8 for anything I could find. (I only stay there for an hour) I wasn’t getting so toned on my lower area, but my uper area is starting to look like them workout trainers…NOT GOOD! So hey, if that 4 sets of 20 did some good results for your lower area, I think I’ll go with that one. And that focusing on only one area sounds good.
Thanks!! heres my yahoo messenger ID: joanslittlejones Add me! Loves, Joan
